When Not to Have a Shiatsu Chair Massage
There are some circumstances where the therapist would not recommend a Shiatsu massage, usually where it could cause worsening of a particular condition, unwanted tissue destruction or spread of disease.
Such circumstances include:
- Cancer
- Heart disease
- Blood pressure condition
- Deep Vein Thrombosis
- Acute infection
Other circumstances which you would need to discuss with the therapist include:
- Incompletely healed scar tissue
- Fragile skin
- Calcified soft tissue
- Skin grafts
- Inflammatory muscle disease
You should also make the therapist aware if you are trying to conceive or if you are in the early stages of pregnancy, when the treatment is not recommended.
Finally, postpone you massage if you have a cold. It will probably make you feel worse!
