Shiatsu Chair Massage FAQ

Here are some of the most common questions I am asked about on-site Shiatsu chair massage.  If you have questions about Swedish Massage click here.

Shiatsu Chair Massage

  • How long will it take?
Although if time is short it is possible to have a 10-minute treatment a full 20-minute session is much better and will leave you refreshed and re-invigorated. If this is your first treatment allow for a five minute consultation with the therapist beforehand. This is important and should not be disregarded.
  • Can you have a chair massage in any chair?
Although a massage therapist can give you a good shoulder, neck and arm massage when you are sitting in a normal office chair it is impossible to give a full Shiatsu massage treatment. Using our portable, ergonomically designed massage chair will allow you to lean forward with the your legs, arms and head properly supported and able to enjoy the full benefits of the treatment.
  • What should I wear?
Your normal office clothes, without jacket or tie or thick sweaters. Silky shirts make it more difficult for the therapist so changing into a t-shirt may be better.
  • Our office is chaotic, noisy and messy – can you cope?
Obviously it’s better if the treatment can take place in a quiet room or corner but if not all we need to do is clear a space for the chair and the therapist and just get on with it!
  • We all want one – how many can you do in one session?
So that there is time for a short consultation and recovery time allow 2 x 20 minute treatments per hour or 3 x 10 minute treatments. The therapist can work for several hours at a time, with short breaks. Get in touch to discuss your requirements.
  • There’s only me – will you still come?
Each client is important – even if it’s only for a 20-minute session. Get in touch to arrange a convenient time.
  • Can we make a regular booking?
Those long hours at a desk take their toll. Regular Shiatsu chair massages have been found to be very beneficial in banishing stiffness and leaving employees re-energised and relaxed. If you would like to arrange regular sessions please get in touch – discounts are available.
  • Are there any times when you shouldn’t have a chair massage?

You will definitely feel more relaxed, you may even feel a little light-headedt then you will return to work feeling re-energised.
